AEW President Hints at Broader Streaming Opportunities with Max for Shows and Pay-Per-Views

Summary

– AEW pay-per-views may be available on Max starting in January 2025, but the deal could extend beyond just PPVs.

– Tony Khan hinted at a broader collaboration with Max that could include shows like Dynamite, Collision, and Rampage.

– AEW remains confident in its long-term relationship with TBS and TNT, alongside new streaming opportunities.

AEW’s relationship with the Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD)-owned streaming platform Max might go beyond just hosting pay-per-views, according to AEW President Tony Khan. During an interview with WFAN, Khan discussed the evolving media landscape and how AEW could expand its presence on streaming platforms like Max.

While a recent report by Andrew Zarian indicated that AEW pay-per-views will likely be available on Max by January 2025, or sooner, Khan suggested the partnership could involve more than just PPVs. “The plan is to, I think, do a lot of things potentially with Max,” Khan said, indicating the possibility of AEW programming like Dynamite, Collision, and Rampage also being part of the deal.

Khan acknowledged the ongoing changes in cable and streaming, stating that the promotion’s current shows on TBS and TNT would remain, but new opportunities with Max are on the horizon. He confirmed that Bleacher Report, AEW’s current platform for streaming pay-per-views, is being phased out, and they are exploring other apps to deliver their content.

“You can get the pay-per-views other places for now, but we’re working on some exciting announcements on where to get those and what’s to come with Max,” Khan shared. He also assured fans that AEW will remain on TBS and TNT for the foreseeable future.

Meanwhile, John Ourand of Puck Sports has reported that a new media rights deal between AEW and WBD could be announced soon, further solidifying AEW’s place on the network.
