Since his return to WWE, the Legend Killer, Randy Orton, has been focused on seeking revenge against the Bloodline for the injury they inflicted upon him. Back in May 2022, the faction unleashed a brutal assault on Orton, resulting in a severe back injury. Initially expected to be a minor setback, the injury turned out to be much more serious and potentially career-threatening.
Doctors advised Orton against returning to the squared circle, spreading speculation about his potential retirement. During a recent interview with Sportskeeda, Orton opened up about how close he came to ending his wrestling career. He shared the mental challenges he faced after numerous neurologists suggested he should retire to avoid lifelong pain.
“I had top neurologists telling me that, ‘You know what, you had a great career, you have a life after wrestling, and you wanna be comfortable. You don’t wanna be in pain the rest of your life. We’re gonna fix your back, but you’re gonna have to stop wrestling’. The first six months that I was out, I had that in the back of my head, and it was tough. It was mentally very challenging,” Orton revealed.
Despite these challenges, Orton worked tirelessly in rehab and remarkably recovered. He returned to the ring at Survivor Series 2023, proving his resilience and dedication. Since his comeback, Orton has reclaimed his spot at the top of the WWE roster, continuing to showcase his legendary skills and determination.
