NXT’s Transition to The CW Maintains Existing Schedule

Summary
– WWE NXT will continue to air on Tuesdays from 8–10 pm Eastern when it moves to The CW this fall.

– The CW’s fall schedule confirms the show’s timeslot as part of the network’s strategy to expand its live sports offerings.

– The transition from USA Network to The CW represents a shift from cable to broadcast network for NXT, starting in October 2023.

WWE NXT fans can rest easy knowing that their favorite show will continue to air on Tuesday nights when it moves to The CW this fall. This announcement is part of WWE’s five-year deal with The CW, which was revealed in November 2023. NXT will begin broadcasting on The CW in October, maintaining its current timeslot of 8–10 pm Eastern.

The CW’s fall schedule, released today, confirmed that NXT would stay on Tuesdays, continuing to deliver the action-packed wrestling that fans have come to expect. The network’s press release highlighted this decision: “The next generation of WWE Superstars take to the ring when WWE NXT airs live every Tuesday (8:00–10:00 pm ET).”

This strategic move is part of The CW’s broader plan to enhance its live sports portfolio. President of Entertainment at The CW, Brad Schwartz, emphasized the network’s commitment to expanding its sports offerings, including NASCAR, Pac-12 football, LIV Golf, and ACC football and basketball, alongside WWE NXT.

“We’ll also have more live sports than ever before with the addition of WWE NXT, the NASCAR XFINITY SERIES and Pac-12 football alongside second seasons of LIV Golf, INSIDE THE NFL, ACC football and ACC basketball,” Schwartz said. “Anchored by 500 hours of sports in 2025, we continue to get bigger and broader while reaching and growing our audience across broadcast, streaming and local.”

The transition from USA Network to The CW marks a significant shift for NXT, moving from a cable channel to a broadcast network. NXT has been airing on USA since 2019 and will continue until the move. Meanwhile, USA Network will also lose WWE Raw, transitioning to Netflix in January 2025. However, SmackDown will return to the USA starting this September, ensuring WWE’s presence on the network continues to be active in some capacity.
