For the first time in WWE history, the company has inked a sponsorship deal with a spirits brand, Wheatley Vodka, ahead of WrestleMania 40. According to Sports Business Journal, Wheatley Vodka will serve as the “Official Vodka of WrestleMania 40” and sponsor several other WWE events.
Under the new deal, Wheatley Vodka will have live-event brand integrations during both nights of WrestleMania XL, feature in the event’s Kickoff Show, and participate in social media and digital media executions. Additionally, a sweepstakes promo is included in the agreement.
WrestleMania 40 is scheduled in Philadelphia on Saturday, April 6, and Sunday, April 7. Alongside the sponsorship of WrestleMania, Wheatley Vodka will also present an upcoming six-part series on WWE’s social media and digital channels. The series, featuring Cody Rhodes interviewing other WWE wrestlers, will showcase a [Wheatley]-branded tour bus.
Grant Norris-Jones, EVP/head of global partnerships for TKO, WWE’s parent company, expressed the company’s strategy to expand into new categories and secure broader deals. TKO is actively seeking an official beer partner for WWE while noting Mike’s Hard Lemonade’s return as a sponsor for SummerSlam this year.
TKO, formed last September with Endeavor’s acquisition of WWE becoming official, is the parent company of WWE and the UFC.
