According to a report by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Tama Tonga is on the verge of joining WWE, marking a significant shift in his wrestling career.
Tonga recently wrapped up his commitments with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) at NJPW New Beginning in Sapporo, where he teamed with Tanga Loa in a tag team match against Hikuleo & El Phantasmo.
The announcement of Tonga’s departure from NJPW came after he clinched the NEVER Openweight Title at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18. In January, Tonga disclosed that he would be bidding farewell to NJPW to be closer to his family. He fulfilled his remaining obligations with the company throughout February.
Having debuted in NJPW in 2010, Tonga amassed an impressive collection of titles in both singles and tag team divisions. He held the NEVER Openweight Championship four times and the IWGP Tag Team Championship seven times. Tonga was also a pivotal member of the original Bullet Club faction.
