Gunther, the WWE Intercontinental Champion, recently shared his thoughts on a potential showdown with Chad Gable at WrestleMania 40. Despite successfully defending his title against Jey Uso, Gunther acknowledges the growing list of contenders, with Gable leading the pack. In an interview with Battle on the Battleground Podcast, Gunther praised Gable’s skills, expressing openness to the challenge. WrestleMania plans remain uncertain, but Gunther assures fans that he’s ready for whatever comes his way.

“I honestly gotta say, he’s not the only one, I guess. That’s just the life of a champion. A bunch of guys want a piece of them. That being said, I think he’s a phenomenal athlete. He’s a great technician, and the matches we had I think we were phenomenal, and the audience enjoyed them all. So if it should come to that, for WrestleMania, then yeah, I’m here for it. But we have to see. I think there’s a few options in the pipeline. I don’t know what’s in store for ‘Mania. But like I said, I think there’s a bunch of guys. That’s just the life of a champion. You are chased by some people that want that prize, and it keeps me on edge,” Gunther said.

On the February 19 episode of WWE Raw, Gunther triumphed over Jey Uso, reinforcing his dominance. Meanwhile, Chad Gable won against Ivar, fueling speculation about a possible rematch. In a recent interview, Gunther also addressed the dwindling possibility of a dream match with Brock Lesnar.

In a significant milestone, Gunther surpassed Pedro Morales’ record for combined days as WWE Intercontinental Champion, solidifying his reign as one of the longest in history.
