Stadium Stampede: A Spectacle or a Missed Opportunity?

Eric Bischoff’s Candid Take on the Wild and Bloody Showdown

The Stadium Stampede has undoubtedly made its mark in the ever-evolving world of professional wrestling. But not all marks are created equal, and Eric Bischoff’s recent commentary on the event provides a fresh perspective worth considering.

Bischoff, a name synonymous with wrestling, recently shared his thoughts on the Stadium Stampede, and it’s clear he has mixed feelings. While he acknowledges the sheer effort and hard work that went into the event, he can’t help but feel that it was an overkill. “It’s just another example of Indie Ric on steroids,” he remarked, emphasizing that the event did nothing for him. In fact, he went as far as to say that it turned him off completely. For Bischoff, the event felt more like “gore for the sake of gore,” lacking the artistic, creative, and athletic touch that he believes wrestling should embody.

But it’s not just the gore that Bischoff took issue with. He also criticized the production, pointing out that having performers like Claud, who he considers one of the best, brawling outside the ring was a waste of talent. The idea might have looked good on paper, but the execution left much to be desired. “Great spectacle, no emotion,” is how he summed it up.

Bischoff’s rating for the event? A modest 5.5. He quickly clarified that this wasn’t a reflection of the wrestlers’ efforts but rather the overall presentation and execution of the event.

One of the standout performers for Bischoff was John Moxley, who he felt carried AEW last year. He likened Moxley to Mick Foley, praising his ability to deliver both in hardcore matches and standard singles matches. However, he felt that Moxley’s inclination towards extreme bloodfests might be selling himself short.

In conclusion, while the Stadium Stampede was a spectacle, it has missed the mark for some. But as with all things in the world of wrestling, opinions vary, and what doesn’t resonate with one might be a hit with another. One thing’s for sure, though: the world of wrestling will never cease to evolve, and we can only wait and see what’s next.
