Racial Discrimination Lawsuit Against WWE Partially Dismissed

Former WWE Writer Britney Abrahams Takes a Step Back, But the Door Remains Open

Recently, a racial discrimination and wrongful termination lawsuit filed against WWE and several associated individuals has seen a significant shift. Britney Abrahams, a former WWE writer, initiated the lawsuit in April, alleging instances of racial discrimination and inappropriate conduct. However, as of this week, Abrahams has voluntarily dismissed the lawsuit without prejudice against all defendants, except WWE.

The dismissal without prejudice implies a temporary move, allowing Abrahams the flexibility to either refile or modify the lawsuit, or even bring it to another court against any or all of the named defendants. The initial lawsuit, filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York, accused WWE of terminating Abrahams’ contract after she raised concerns over racially insensitive and stereotypical content in WWE scene scripts. Specific instances involving WWE superstars Bianca Belair and Apollo Crews were cited.

Several notable names were listed as individual defendants, including Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, and other WWE executives and writers. The recent dismissal encompasses all these individuals. This move has led to speculations that Abrahams and her legal team might be in discussions for a potential settlement with WWE. However, when approached for a comment, representatives from the Cochran Group remained tight-lipped.
