The WWE Superstar Opens Up About Her Authenticity and Journey in the Wrestling World
Since her return to WWE at the Royal Rumble, Chelsea Green has been a consistent presence on television, showcasing her unique character, “Karen Green.” Working alongside Adam Pearce in backstage segments, she even clinched the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles with Sonya Deville.
In a candid chat on WWE After the Bell, Green delved into her journey and the freedom she sought in her character portrayal. “I just so badly wanted them to let me be me. Let me be my authentic self in the form of coming up with characters, coming up with my own promos and punchlines,” she expressed. Reflecting on her initial stint with WWE, Green felt she needed to fully seize the opportunities presented to her. However, her perspective shifted during her second run. “What’s the worst that can happen? I’m released? I’ve had that happen. That already happened. I’m not afraid anymore,” she stated confidently.
Green’s fearless approach led her to try outlandish things, even if it meant being labeled “extra.” She revealed, “They told me week after week [to stop being so extra], and I still do it. I still am the most.” Despite the feedback, Green’s commitment to her character remains unwavering. She believes in taking risks and facing the consequences later.
Currently, Green continues to hold the WWE Women’s Tag Team championships. However, her partner, Sonya Deville, is sidelined due to an ACL injury.
