Seth Rollins Reflects on Failed Onscreen Pairing with Becky Lynch: A Second Chance Desired

Published on

The WWE Superstar opens up about the challenges of their 2019 onscreen partnership and expresses hope for future collaboration

Coming out of WrestleMania 35, Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins were both champions and a real-life couple. They were paired up on television, but by their own admission, the onscreen partnership didn’t work. Rollins recently explained why the pairing failed and expressed his desire to give it a second shot.

Rollins revealed that both characters were in different places at the time, and he struggled with self-doubt and depression. Lynch’s character was in a different stratosphere, and it was hard for her to manage her “Stone Cold Steve Austin-type character” while also portraying a love interest. Rollins said, “When you take your relationship and you turn it into a story, it becomes difficult because it’s hard for our audience occasionally to separate fiction from reality.”

He continued to reflect on both characters’ timing and readiness, concluding that if they did it now or in the future, it might be different. Rollins expressed gratitude that they are both solid individual characters without relying on the pairing. However, he added, “If we go there again, I’d love to give it a second shot. I think there’s a lot to it, but if we don’t, we tried it, it didn’t work, and we’re still very happily married, so that’s good.”

Lynch has returned to being “The Man” after a run as “Big Time Becks,” and Rollins is the reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
