WWE Legend Rey Mysterio Expresses Pride in Son Dominik’s Achievements, But Warns He’d Take His NXT North American Title

WWE legend Rey Mysterio has expressed a complex mix of pride and rivalry towards his son, Dominik Mysterio. Despite their recent feud, Rey couldn’t hide his pride in Dominik’s accomplishments, particularly his recent win of the NXT North American Championship. However, he also warned that he wouldn’t hesitate to challenge his son for the title.

Rey and Dominik Mysterio’s relationship has been strained over the past year, with Dominik turning on his father and joining the Judgment Day faction alongside Rhea Ripley, Finn Balor, and Damian Priest. Despite this, Rey admitted on WWE’s The Bump that he feels a great sense of pride every time Dominik achieves something new.

“You can’t even imagine the amount of pride and joy that I feel every time he accomplishes something. That still doesn’t take away the fact that he’s disrespected his whole family, and I’m hoping that one day that will all change,” Rey said.

However, Rey also made it clear that he wouldn’t hesitate to challenge Dominik for his title if the opportunity arose. “He just better not step in the ring with me because I will take that North American title,” he warned.

Dominik Mysterio is set to defend the NXT North American Championship at NXT Great American Bash, while Rey Mysterio will face Santos Escobar in the final of the United States Championship Invitational on the July 28 episode of WWE Smackdown.
