CD Projekt RED Announces Major Layoffs Amidst Structural Overhaul

Polish Gaming Giant to Cut Nearly 10% of Workforce in a Bid for More Agile, Effective Teams

CD Projekt RED, the renowned Polish gaming studio, has announced an impending cut of “around 100” jobs as part of a significant structural reshuffle. The layoffs, representing nearly 10% of the company’s workforce, are part of the studio’s efforts to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.

Adam Kiciński, CEO of CD Projekt RED, has issued a press release detailing the reasons behind the decision. He states, “To meet our own high expectations and ambitions to create the best role-playing games, we not only want to have the best people but also the right teams.” He further adds that the studio is aiming for teams that are “more agile and more effective.”

Kiciński acknowledges that CD Projekt RED is currently “overstaffed” and lacks “other opportunities” for some of its staff in the future. “The outcome is the studio parting ways with around 100 people, which is roughly 9% of the entire team,” he reveals.

The layoffs will take little effect, with some employees being retained for another six months or so. Kiciński assures that the company wants its team members to have ample time to process and adjust to the change, and they have also arranged for a comprehensive severance package for everyone affected.

The CEO concludes the statement by expressing gratitude to the affected staff for their “invaluable” contributions, wishing them success and fulfillment in the next chapter of their professional lives.

While it’s always unfortunate to hear about layoffs, we extend our best wishes to all those affected.
