Months of untelevised matches helped prepare him for WWE television.

Summary

– Royce Keys says he worked regularly during his WWE television absence

– Triple H arranged matches before Raw and SmackDown

– Keys credits those appearances with helping him adjust

Royce Keys has pushed back against suggestions that his time away from WWE television was spent doing nothing backstage.

Speaking in a recent interview, Keys said he wrestled untelevised matches before Raw and SmackDown every week for roughly two-and-a-half to three months. He credited Triple H with giving him those opportunities after his Royal Rumble appearance.

Keys described the schedule as demanding, saying Tuesdays and Wednesdays were his only days at home during that stretch.

He viewed the matches as useful preparation for a different working environment. Repetition, he explained, helped him become comfortable before taking on a larger television role.

Now part of The 946, Keys says he is enjoying showing his personality alongside teammates who suit him.
