AEW Explores Exciting Dream Match Possibilities for CM Punk at Forbidden Door II

Published on

In a captivating development, the wrestling world could witness a long-awaited clash of the GTS finishers as CM Punk and KENTA’s paths converge. While Punk acknowledges that KENTA executed the move first, fans have eagerly anticipated a showdown between the two masters of the GTS.

Recently, KENTA took to Twitter to express his willingness to face CM Punk, but only if the financial offer is right. It seems that negotiations may have reached a satisfying agreement for the former Hideo Itami.

An intriguing note from Sean Sapp, available behind Fightful’s paywall, sheds light on AEW’s plans for KENTA at the Forbidden Door II event. According to the report, the working plan is for KENTA to make an appearance. It’s worth noting that KENTA previously appeared on AEW Dynamite in April 2021, teaming with Kenny Omega against Jon Moxley and Lance Archer.

While the deal for KENTA’s participation is yet to be finalized, both AEW and NJPW are assuming he will be part of the event. However, the opponent being internally discussed adds an extraordinary level of excitement. Sources indicate that CM Punk has been a topic of conversation as a potential opponent for KENTA, which could bring closure to a decade-long back-and-forth between the two.

Throughout their respective careers, both Punk and KENTA have taken shots at each other, stemming from Punk’s adoption of KENTA’s Go 2 Sleep finishing move. While KENTA recently expressed his indifference toward the matter, he still demands a significant financial offer for his involvement in the Forbidden Door.

A match between CM Punk and KENTA has long been a subject of speculation among fans. Now, this dream match may become a reality. However, only time will reveal if Tony Khan can secure this highly anticipated showdown.
