Norman Reedus is stepping into a chilling new role in Pendulum, a psychological horror film now shooting in New Mexico. Reedus joins Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Phoebe Dynevor in the project, which is produced by Darren Aronofsky and directed by Black Swan writer Mark Heyman, as reported by Deadline.com.

Pendulum follows Patrick and Abigail, a young couple drawn to a remote retreat after a traumatic event. As Patrick grows suspicious of the retreat’s enigmatic leader and Abigail falls deeper under her influence, the couple must uncover whether the spiritual practices offer true healing or hide a terrifying truth. Reedus plays the friend who leads them into the retreat’s web.

The film is produced by Jacob Jaffke, Élan Klein Jaffke, and Dave Caplan, with Black Bear handling international sales at Cannes. UTA Independent Film Group, CAA Media Finance, and WME Independent manage domestic rights. Reedus’ casting explains his absence from the Canneseries event, where he was scheduled to serve as head of the jury.
