Master P’s surprise appearance headlines a night of mixed results for AEW on TBS
Summary
– AEW Dynamite viewership dropped to 521,000 on April 23
– The 18–49 demo rating also fell to 0.14, down from 0.17
– Master P appeared and got involved in a key storyline
AEW Dynamite’s April 23 episode delivered some headline-worthy moments, but the ratings didn’t reflect the buzz. According to Dave Meltzer, the TBS broadcast drew 521,000 viewers, a 16.5% drop from the previous week’s 624,000. In the key 18–49 demographic, the rating dipped from 0.17 to 0.14.
Meltzer noted that the competition was steep, with two NBA playoff games and one NHL playoff game airing at the same time. Dynamite ranked #5 in cable ratings each hour. The early 5 p.m. West Coast start time likely hurt the show’s performance. Viewership totals do not include streaming numbers from Max.
Despite the drop, AEW packed the show with action. Rap legend Master P made a surprise appearance and got physically involved in the feud between The Death Riders and The Opps, even taking a few jabs at Jon Moxley.
FTR also made their return from suspension, bringing Stokely Hathaway with them. They wasted no time making an impact, attacking the Rock n Roll Express in a brutal beatdown.
While the numbers dipped, the episode showed AEW’s continued push for celebrity crossover moments and storyline momentum heading into the summer stretch.
