Cena returns, tag titles on the line, and six-woman tag match announced for April 18
Summary
– Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal returns on April 18’s WrestleMania SmackDown
– John Cena will appear days before challenging Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41
– Tag title and women’s trios matches are confirmed for the stacked lineup
WWE has confirmed that the annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal will take place on the April 18 episode of SmackDown, now branded as WrestleMania SmackDown. The match returns for its tenth edition, continuing a tradition that began in 2014 and only missed one year due to the 2020 pandemic.
The event marks the fifth straight year the match has been held on the SmackDown before WrestleMania rather than during the main card. No participants have been announced yet, but the battle royal is expected to feature a mix of main roster and NXT talent.
Also confirmed for the show is the return of John Cena. Just two days before he faces Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41, Cena will appear live on SmackDown.
The WWE Tag Team Championship will be defended as The Street Profits put their titles on the line against Motor City Machine Guns. Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins face Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin in what’s expected to be a fast-paced showdown between two athletic teams.
A six-woman tag match is also on the card, featuring Chelsea Green, Piper Niven, and Alba Fyre teaming up against Zelina Vega, Katana Chance, and Kayden Carter.
