– Triple H called to express interest after hearing Goldberg’s comments in an interview
WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg has broken his silence about his absence from WWE since 2022, saying he won’t chase the company for a retirement match. Speaking to The Ariel Helwani Show, the former Universal Champion explained that he had discussed a send-off with Vince McMahon, but that conversation never led to anything official.
“What am I going to do, pick up the phone and beg somebody to give me a retirement match? I don’t do that. I’m Bill Goldberg,” he said. “I don’t beg for sh*t. I never have, and I never will.”
Goldberg’s last WWE match occurred over two years ago against Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber. Though fans have speculated about a return, he confirmed he’s not pushing for it behind the scenes.
However, he did share that WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, reached out after watching one of his interviews. According to Goldberg, the call came after he said he deserved a retirement match.
“I was astonished,” Goldberg admitted. “I hung up the first time because I didn’t know who it was. Once we had the conversation, I was extremely appreciative and honored that he would think of me.”
Goldberg added that Triple H seemed sincere, saying he believed Goldberg deserved a proper sendoff if that’s what he truly wanted. Still, there are no confirmed plans for such a match.
