Summary
– Rey Fenix debuted on SmackDown with a hard-hitting win over Nathan Frazer
– Fenix said his WWE debut was the moment he’s waited for his entire life
– Legado del Fantasma reacted backstage, setting up a possible future clash
Rey Fenix officially arrived in WWE and ensured the world knew it. The former AEW standout debuted on the April 4 episode of SmackDown at the Allstate Arena, delivering a high-octane performance against Nathan Frazer.
WWE wasted no time hyping Fenix’s in-ring debut, promoting it immediately after the opening segment featuring CM Punk and Paul Heyman. The anticipation paid off as the match delivered speed, intensity, and crowd-pleasing action.
Also making his SmackDown debut, Frazer pushed Fenix from the opening bell. Despite being tested with a barrage of offenses, Fenix kept countering and kicking out, showing resilience throughout the match.
The finish came after a series of devastating strikes. Fenix hit Frazer with the Goodbye Amigos Kick and a near-fall Firedriver before landing a brutal knee in the corner and finishing with a Mexican Muscle Buster for the clean victory.
After the win, Fenix addressed the Chicago crowd, calling the moment a lifelong dream fulfilled. “I waited my whole life for this moment—and now I can say, I am WWE,” he told Byron Saxton.
But the celebration didn’t last long. Backstage, Legado del Fantasma watched closely. While Santos Escobar gave Fenix credit, Humberto Carrillo dismissed him as a “flying lizard” and a “flash in the pan.” Escobar pushed back, telling Carrillo to prove himself and hinting that he would speak with SmackDown GM Nick Aldis.
Fenix’s debut has already shaken up the blue brand—and it looks like the next chapter is coming fast.
