Post-match backstage moment signals WWE has big plans for the high-flying star

Summary

– Rey Fenix defeated Nathan Frazer in his WWE debut on April 4 SmackDown

– Triple H posted a video saying Fenix is “just getting started”

– Legado del Fantasma reacted backstage, with tension rising toward a possible showdown

Rey Fenix didn’t just debut on SmackDown—he delivered a performance that immediately turned heads. But what happened after the show made an even bigger impact.

Following his high-energy win over Nathan Frazer at the Allstate Arena, Triple H shared a backstage video embracing Fenix and telling him, “Just getting started.” He posted the clip to social media with the same message and tagged Fenix, signaling strong support from WWE’s top decision-maker.

Fenix backed it up in the ring. Facing Frazer, one-half of the NXT Tag Team Champions, the match delivered constant action. Frazer landed early offense and near-falls, but Fenix countered every big move. He finished the match with a Goodbye Amigos Kick, a Firedriver, a stiff knee to the head, and a Mexican Muscle Buster for the win.

After the match, Byron Saxton interviewed Fenix in the ring. Fenix told the crowd, “I waited my whole life for this moment—and now I can say, I am WWE.”

Backstage, Legado del Fantasma watched closely. Santos Escobar praised the match, but Humberto Carrillo mocked Fenix, calling him a “flying lizard” and a “flash in the pan.” Escobar challenged Carrillo to bring the same energy to the ring and said he was heading to Nick Aldis to set something up.

Between a successful debut, a strong fan reaction, and public backing from Triple H, Rey Fenix’s arrival in WWE feels like the beginning of something far bigger than a single match.
