Mercedes Moné walked out of AEW Revolution with her TBS Championship intact, but not without consequence. In her latest Moné Mag newsletter, the champion revealed she suffered a throat injury during the match against Momo Watanabe.
The injury happened after Moné took a hard kick to the jaw and throat, which immediately left her struggling to speak or swallow. “Nothing prepared me for that kick,” she wrote. “I instantly grabbed my face, praying nothing was broken.” Though shaken, she pushed through and completed the match.
The next day, things didn’t get any easier. “My throat was sore af, and my voice was so raspy I could probably audition for a horror movie,” she joked in the newsletter.
Despite the lingering pain, Moné didn’t miss a beat. She was back in action the following week, proving once again why she’s considered one of the most resilient and respected performers in wrestling today.
