Goldberg’s farewell bout is still the plan, but he isn’t cleared yet
Summary
– Bill Goldberg underwent stem cell treatment but isn’t medically cleared
– The WWE Hall of Famer hasn’t been able to train for his 2025 farewell match
– No confirmed timeline for his return as he awaits full recovery
Bill Goldberg is still aiming for his long-awaited retirement match in 2025, but there’s one major obstacle—he hasn’t been cleared to compete.
The former Universal Champion recently underwent stem cell treatment to address lingering injuries, particularly in his shoulder. While he’s optimistic about his recovery, there’s no exact timeline for when he’ll be ready to enter the ring again.
During an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Goldberg was asked if he had any idea when his final match would happen. His response made it clear that nothing is set in stone.
“I don’t have any idea,” Goldberg admitted. “I just know that I got stem cells five weeks and six days ago, and I’m cleared physically in a very short period of time.”
In December, Goldberg initially revealed his plans for the procedure, emphasizing that his shoulder issues were his biggest concern. Now, he’s still waiting to see the full benefits of the treatment before he can return to serious training.
“I haven’t been able to do much at all preparation-wise. But I think that the positives of the stem cell treatment were such a positive that it was worth me staying out of the gym for the longest period of time I ever have in my entire life and staying away from physical activity,” Goldberg explained.
While his retirement match is still the goal, it remains unclear when—or if—it will take place. Until he’s officially cleared, fans must wait and see what’s next for the WWE Hall of Famer.
