Vic Joseph is finally speaking out about the unexpected release of his wife, McKenzie Mitchell, from WWE. Appearing on the Getting Over podcast, the NXT commentator revealed that the news in December 2023 came as a complete shock, especially following the recent passing of his father.
“I was completely caught off guard,” Joseph admitted. “My father passed away in October. She was fired the first week of December. So it was like boom, boom, you know. It completely caught her off guard, and caught some people in the company off guard as well.”
Despite the difficult timing, Joseph made it clear that they hold no resentment toward WWE, recognizing that it was ultimately a business decision. He expressed pride in Mitchell’s return to TNA, where she once found a home again.
Joseph also praised Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Michael Cole for reaching out to them personally after the release. “All three talked to us on a personal level. That is why, to me, WWE is home,” he said, underscoring his emotional connection to the company.
While Mitchell thrives in TNA, Joseph acknowledges that the future remains unpredictable. “Anything can happen a year from now. There’s no ill will. She even told me today, ‘Hey, I’d love to make it to Stand and Deliver just to say hi to Shawn and give him a hug.’”
A return is never off the table, with WWE and TNA strengthening ties. In pro wrestling, anything can happen, and as history has shown—never say never.
