The WWE Hall of Famer discusses racing, wrestling, and his take on Cena’s shocking turn

Summary

– Steve Austin set to compete in the Mint 400, focusing on his first race back after knee surgery

– Calls John Cena’s heel turn inevitable but wonders how fans will react

– Praises Vince McMahon’s showmanship and his ability to put on a great show

Stone Cold Steve Austin isn’t just talking wrestling—he’s ready to hit the desert. Speaking with The Schmo ahead of the Mint 400 in Las Vegas, Austin discussed his return to off-road racing, his thoughts on WWE’s biggest storylines, and his legendary career inside the ring.

Austin, serving as Grand Marshal for the event, is also competing, marking his first race back after knee surgery. “Hey, somebody had to do it and they picked me,” Austin said, adding that he’s ready to “kick ass” and see how well he can perform. Despite WrestleMania 41 looming, he made it clear his focus is on the race, not the ring. “I haven’t been in contact with anybody, so I guess anything could happen, but I’m not looking to Mania—I’m looking to the Mint 400.”

Austin didn’t seem surprised when asked about John Cena’s recent heel turn. “It had to happen sooner or later. Finally, it happened,” he said. However, he questioned whether the turn would truly make Cena a villain or if the fans would rally behind him even more. “It remains to be seen as the story unfolds.”

Austin also shared his thoughts on Vince McMahon’s wrestling skills, saying he “loved working with him” and that McMahon was “flat-out awesome.” He praised his ability to entertain and always put on a show for the fans.

Closing the interview, Austin took a moment to promote his Broken Skull beer line before joking about leading the parade for the Mint 400 without getting a DUI. He wrapped it all up with his signature catchphrase: “And that’s the bottom line, ‘cause Stone Cold said so.”
