Former Women’s Tag Team Champion Hints at What’s Next
Summary
– Sonya Deville’s contract will not be renewed, but she avoids a non-compete clause
– She has already distanced herself from WWE, reverting to her real name, Daria Berenato
– Speculation grows on whether she will move to AEW, TNA, MMA, or Hollywood
Unlike the February 7 WWE releases, Sonya Deville wasn’t outright cut—her contract is simply expiring at the end of the month. This means she won’t be tied to a 90-day non-compete clause and is free to appear anywhere immediately after her deal ends.
Deville has already begun transitioning away from her WWE identity, changing her social media name to Daria Rae Berenato. Cryptic messages have sparked speculation while she hasn’t revealed her next move. She teased fans at the Cobra Kai premiere: “…See what’s next.” Her updated bio further fueled intrigue with the phrase, “To be continued…”
Since signing with WWE in 2015 after Tough Enough, Deville has taken on multiple roles, including wrestler, authority figure, and Women’s Tag Team Champion. However, an ACL injury 2023 halted her momentum, keeping her out of action for much of her final WWE run.
With her contract ending, Deville’s possibilities are wide open. She could land in AEW or TNA, return to MMA, or even explore Hollywood opportunities, given her past reality TV experience. One thing is clear—her journey is far from over.
