The move suggests NXT Evolve could finally become a reality
Summary
– WWE filed a trademark for Evolve on January 30, sparking speculation
– NXT Evolve has long been rumored as an expansion of the developmental system
– Gabe Sapolsky is reportedly involved, adding credibility to the project
WWE has taken a significant step toward expanding its developmental system, filing a trademark application for Evolve with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on January 30. This move has reignited speculation that the long-discussed NXT Evolve brand is finally taking shape.
The trademark covers everything from professional wrestling events to television programming, hinting at a broader initiative beyond intellectual property protection. WWE acquired the original EVOLVE Wrestling promotion in 2020, and ever since there have been rumors of a developmental brand under the same name.
Gabe Sapolsky, who helped build Ring of Honor and later ran EVOLVE, is said to be involved in the project. Sapolsky’s track record of discovering top-tier talent has made him valuable in WWE’s creative process. Initially brought in as an NXT consultant in 2016, he was released in 2022 but rejoined the company later that year.
While WWE has yet to announce an official launch date for NXT Evolve, reports indicate that independent wrestlers have been approached about potential tapings. The brand is expected to bridge the Performance Center and NXT, focusing on WWE’s NIL athletes and developmental talent.
With WWE securing the Evolve trademark and Sapolsky back in the mix, signs point to a new chapter in the company’s evolving developmental system.
