Bob Uecker, affectionately known as “Mr. Baseball,” passed away at 90. Best known for his decades-long career as the voice of the Milwaukee Brewers, Uecker also left a lasting mark in the world of professional wrestling.
He played a key role at WrestleMania III in 1987, serving as the special guest ring announcer for Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant. The following year, he returned at WrestleMania IV as a commentator and backstage interviewer, where he found himself in one of WWE’s most unforgettable moments—being choked by Andre the Giant after making one too many jokes. That clip remains one of WWE’s most replayed moments from the 1980s.
Recognizing his contributions to WWE, Uecker was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame’s Celebrity Wing in 2010. Vince McMahon credited him for bringing a unique presence to WrestleMania and securing his place in WWE history.
Outside of wrestling, Uecker was a beloved baseball broadcaster for 53 years and starred in the sitcom Mr. Belvedere and the Major League film series. His humor, charm, and impact on sports and entertainment will be remembered forever.
