Jeffrey Dean Morgan, best known for his roles in The Walking Dead and Dead City, is set to host Destination X, a new travel adventure reality series slated to debut on NBC in 2025. The series blends travel, mystery, and gaming elements, providing an innovative twist on competition shows. Contestants will embark on a road trip without knowing their location, relying on clues and challenges to guess where they are as they compete for victory.
Morgan, who will also serve as an executive producer, expressed his excitement for the project. “I can’t wait to embark on this wild guessing game across the globe as Master of Ceremony, navigating players through challenges that test their mental and physical abilities,” he said.
This will be Morgan’s second unscripted series following AMC’s Friday Night in With the Morgans, which he co-hosted with his wife, Hilarie Burton Morgan, during the pandemic. NBC’s Executive Vice President of Unscripted Content, Corie Hensen, highlighted Morgan’s fit for the show, stating, “Jeffrey Dean Morgan embodies the mischievous international man of mystery, making him the perfect host and puppet master for this new travel adventure series.”
British production company Twofour developed destination X. The show’s unique format sees contestants aboard a blacked-out bus, facing physical and mental challenges that offer clues about their whereabouts. Misleading clues and misdirects add to the suspense, and at the end of each episode, the contestant furthest from guessing the correct location is eliminated.
Morgan’s fans can also look forward to seeing him in other upcoming projects. He recently appeared in The Boys season four on Prime Video and will reprise his role as Negan in The Walking Dead: Dead City season two, which wrapped filming and is expected to return to AMC in 2025. Additionally, a sequel to Morgan’s 2020 film, The Postcard Killings, titled The Postcard Killer, has been announced, with Morgan and co-star Famke Janssen set to return.
