WWE is bringing back one of its most beloved events, Saturday Night’s Main Event, with plans to air four prime-time specials on NBC, starting this December. The show, which played a pivotal role in WWE’s rise during the 1980s, will now return to TV screens, providing a mix of nostalgia and new excitement for wrestling fans.

According to reports, WWE has filed a trademark for Saturday Night’s Main Event under Serial Number 98741576, signaling their intent to relaunch the show with a wide range of merchandise. The trademark filing covers a variety of clothing items, such as tops, jackets, and hoodies, as well as accessories like headwear, footwear, and bandanas. It also includes Halloween costumes and other apparel, suggesting that WWE has a robust commercial plan for this revival.

In a major boost to the nostalgia factor, Jesse “The Body” Ventura is returning to WWE as a commentator for the show. Wrestling legend Greg Gagne shared on the Straight Talk with The Boss podcast that Ventura has signed a contract with WWE to provide commentary for the upcoming NBC specials.

“I mean, with what they’re paying those guys to come in, I think Jesse’s going to do the — they’re doing some NBC Saturday night shows, about four of them, they’re gonna use Jesse for that,” Gagne revealed during the podcast.

The original Saturday Night’s Main Event ran during WWE’s golden era and aired on NBC in place of Saturday Night Live for 29 episodes. It played a significant role in elevating WWE’s popularity, primarily through the Rock and Wrestling Connection, which helped Vince McMahon transform the company into a national entertainment giant.

With Ventura back in the commentary booth, fans will surely be excited about what’s to come. His larger-than-life personality and unique commentary style defined WWE’s early broadcast days, making his return a big draw for longtime fans and newer viewers.

This revival also ties into WWE’s broader media strategy. The company recently struck a new deal with NBCUniversal to bring SmackDown back to the USA Network. The deal includes four prime-time specials airing on NBC each year, making the return of Saturday Night’s Main Event a perfect addition to WWE’s growing programming lineup.

While fans eagerly await official announcements and more details, excitement is already building around the show’s return. It looks to become a major highlight in WWE’s calendar, blending classic wrestling entertainment with new energy.
