WXW Exits WWE Network as Deal Expires
Summary
– Germany’s WXW leaves WWE Network as their deal expires.
– WXW was the last indie promotion on the Network.
– WXW events will now stream on YouTube and are free to secure other deals.
WWE has made significant deals with various companies over the years, but not all are still a thing. WWE’s partnership with an indie promotion has now come to an end.
According to PWInsider, Germany’s WXW has officially exited the WWE Network as their deal with World Wrestling Entertainment expired today. This was not due to WWE terminating the agreement but rather the contract naturally coming to an end.
WXW was the last independent wrestling promotion featured on the Network. WWE had once planned a tiered subscription model that included indie and international events, but this idea was later abandoned. Instead, promotions like PROGRESS and WXW were added to the Network and Peacock via VOD.
In the future, WXW events will be available to stream on YouTube. For the first time in years, they are legally free to secure deals with other streaming providers.
WWE’s working partnership with another independent promotion ended earlier this year. Regardless, WXW will have other avenues to host their platform now, and that is all that matters.
