Brock Lesnar has been absent from WWE television since his match against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam. His absence has sparked speculation, mainly due to his possible involvement in Vince McMahon’s trafficking lawsuit. As WWE takes steps to exclude Lesnar from future events, including nixing his Royal Rumble return and removing him from creative plans, fans wonder about his future.

Despite these uncertainties, Gunther, the current Intercontinental Champion and a dominant force in WWE remains hopeful for a future showdown with Lesnar. The two briefly faced off at last year’s Royal Rumble, hinting at the potential for a full-fledged match that excited the WWE Universe.

In a recent interview with Alex McCarthy of Mail Online, Gunther discussed his desire to face Lesnar, acknowledging the ongoing rumors and his aspirations for such a match. He sees Lesnar as the ultimate challenge in WWE, akin to a “final boss” in a video game, and believes a match with The Beast Incarnate would solidify his own status in the company.

“Of course, I heard something about it,” Gunther said. “I always saw Brock as my final boss. I always get portrayed as that, as the NXT UK Champion, the Intercontinental Champion, I was like the final boss of that division. And Brock, for a long time, was the final boss of the whole company. So I always saw myself in my future to be in a similar position to him, and to be that you’ve got to get in the ring with that guy.”

Gunther remains optimistic despite the current situation, expressing his willingness to seize any opportunity to face Lesnar. The reaction to their face-off at the Royal Rumble reinforced his belief that the WWE Universe would welcome such a match.

As Gunther participates in the King of The Ring tournament, the prospect of a future clash with Lesnar lingers in the minds of fans and the wrestlers themselves. Whether or not this highly anticipated match will happen depends on various factors, including Lesnar’s legal situation and WWE’s future creative directions.
