A newly released teaser for “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” provides an intriguing glimpse into how the CRM (Civil Republic Military), a shadowy group central to the series, manages and directs zombies. This teaser offers tantalizing clues regarding the group’s enigmatic motives and ongoing zombie-related experiments.

As anticipation builds for the upcoming spinoff, which follows Michonne’s quest to rescue Rick Grimes from the clutches of the CRM, this concise teaser unveils the CRM’s methods.

In the video clip, several Walkers growled and snapped their jaws behind a fence, with numerous others slowly advancing from behind. It becomes evident that the CRM is deliberately corralling them into one location, hinting at their cryptic objectives.

The CRM’s most notable appearance in the franchise was in the spinoff series “The Walking Dead: World Beyond.” In this series, the group was revealed to be involved in Project V, a zombie experimentation initiative. This project employs gas to impede or potentially halt the reanimation process. Survivors designated as “A” are subjected to these experiments, while those marked as “B” are brought in for undisclosed purposes, likely related to recruitment, given Rick’s captivity.

Despite the substantial mystery surrounding the CRM, the full extent of their zombie experiments remains undisclosed. However, promotional material for the show depicts Rick dispatching Walkers, suggesting that those who have already turned may not serve a significant purpose for the organization. Nonetheless, it’s plausible that the zombies eliminated are being studied in an attempt to find a cure.

“The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on February 25, 2024. Created by Scott M. Gimple and Danai Gurira, this spinoff series picks up after Michonne departs from the original series, focusing on her quest to reunite with Rick Grimes. Simultaneously, Rick is embroiled in another battle between the living and the dead.
