RVD’s AEW Status: A Casual Affair?
Rob Van Dam, a name synonymous with high-flying action and a storied wrestling career, has recently been spotted in AEW. While fans have been thrilled to see the “Whole F’n Show” in the AEW ring, questions have arisen regarding the nature of his association with the company.
RVD’s appearances in AEW have been sporadic, yet impactful. The buzz is especially high as AEW Dynamite gears up for its Philly show, where RVD is slated to wrestle. But what’s the deal behind these appearances?
In a recent Q&A session behind Fightful’s paywall, Sean Sapp shed light on this topic. He clarified that RVD is currently not on a full-time contract with AEW. Instead, he’s operating on a per-appearance basis. Sapp mentioned, “Rob Van Dam is back in action next Wednesday in Philadelphia for AEW, but he’s just on a per-appearance basis, he hasn’t signed an actual contract.”
Interestingly, there’s chatter about WWE showing interest in RVD. Given his recent performances, it’s evident that he still has a lot to offer in the squared circle. With no official contract in sight, the WWE Hall of Famer’s next move remains a topic of speculation.
For now, it appears RVD is enjoying his time in AEW, taking things one appearance at a time. If AEW finds value in bringing him to the screen and compensates him accordingly, this flexible arrangement might continue.
