Sammy Guevara’s Recovery from Concussion Keeps Him Out of Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite
AEW’s Sammy Guevara has been sidelined from in-ring action, and fans awaiting his return on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite will have to wait a bit longer. Guevara recently updated fans on his condition via social media, sharing a mix of optimism and disappointment. While he’s on the mend and feeling better each day, he hasn’t received the green light to step back into the squared circle.
The root of Guevara’s absence traces back to AEW’s WrestleDream pay-per-view earlier this month. During a high-octane trios tag match, where Guevara teamed up with Konosuke Takeshita and Will Ospreay to face off against Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, and Kota Ibushi, Guevara sustained a concussion. Despite the injury, Guevara showcased his resilience by pinning Jericho for the win.
Insiders had hoped Guevara would be cleared for this week’s Dynamite, especially since the episode is set in the Houston area, Guevara’s hometown. His desire to perform for his home crowd was palpable, but health comes first. Following the events of WrestleDream, Guevara was slated to team with Takeshita against Jericho and Omega. However, Kyle Fletcher stepped in as Guevara’s replacement.
In a twist of events on AEW Dynamite Grand Slam this September, Guevara turned his back on Jericho, aligning himself with Don Callis and becoming a part of the Don Callis family.
