From his first ink at 15 to the Polynesian tribute, Dominik Mysterio shares the stories behind his tattoos.
Tattoos often serve as a testament to a wrestler’s journey, both inside and outside the squared circle. Dominik Mysterio, son of the legendary Rey Mysterio, recently opened up about his personal tattoo journey on WWE’s “Tattooed” series.
Dominik’s first foray into the world of ink came at the tender age of 15. While most teenagers would be content with a small, inconspicuous tattoo, Dominik went for a bold choice, getting inked right on his ribs. The tattoo, Psalm 27:3, serves as a reminder of his unwavering faith and belief that no challenge is insurmountable with God by his side. The story behind this tattoo is as intriguing as the ink itself. Unable to legally get a tattoo in a shop due to his age, Dominik’s father, Rey Mysterio, arranged for a tattoo artist to ink him in the comfort of their garage. The young Mysterio endured three and a half hours of pain, biting down on a neck pillow throughout the process.
A year later, Dominik felt the itch for more ink. This time, he opted for a half sleeve, a tribute to his French Polynesian heritage from his mother’s side. When viewed at a particular angle, the intricate design reveals a hidden cross, symbolizing Dominik’s deep-rooted faith.
The world of wrestling is no stranger to tattoos, with many superstars donning ink that tells their unique stories. Dominik’s tattoos pay homage to his family’s legacy and reflect his personal journey and the challenges he’s faced. As he continues to carve out his path in the wrestling world, these tattoos serve as a constant reminder of where he comes from and the legacy he aims to uphold.
