Sami Callihan’s Unexpected Departure from IMPACT Wrestling

Published on

Financial Disagreements Lead to the End of an Era

Sami Callihan, once celebrated as the very backbone of IMPACT Wrestling, has now ventured into the realm of free agency. The reason behind this sudden and unexpected departure? It’s all about the finances. As of October 1st, Callihan officially began his journey as a free agent, parting ways with the promotion that once championed him as one of its brightest stars.

In an exclusive interview with Fightful, Callihan clarified the circumstances surrounding his exit. It wasn’t a result of any animosity or bad blood. Instead, it was a straightforward disagreement over compensation. Callihan expressed that he felt his contributions to the company warranted a higher pay than what was being offered.

Beyond the squared circle, Callihan envisions himself as more than just a wrestler. He perceives himself as a wrestling architect in the independent circuit and on the larger, national television stage. While negotiations with IMPACT Wrestling seemed promising initially, they eventually reached an impasse.

Adding fuel to the speculative fire, Jon Moxley, a prominent figure in the wrestling world, has been vocally supportive of Callihan potentially joining AEW. This has led to a whirlwind of rumors suggesting that Callihan might soon make his debut in All Elite Wrestling.

Regardless of where he ends up next, one thing is clear: Sami Callihan’s journey in the world of professional wrestling is far from over.
