AEW’s Effort to Retain Cargill Surpassed Her Financial Expectations
Jade Cargill, once a prominent figure in AEW, has transitioned to WWE. While fans eagerly await her WWE debut, details have emerged about the lengths AEW went to in an attempt to retain her services.
During a press conference following AEW’s WrestleDream event, Tony Khan, AEW’s President, opened up about the contract negotiations with Cargill. He revealed that he offered her a substantial amount to stay with AEW and even exceeded the figure she initially requested. Despite this generous offer, Cargill chose to move on, surprising Khan and many within AEW.
Khan emphasized his respect and admiration for Cargill, stating that he aimed to provide her with a dignified exit from AEW. Reflecting on the situation, he mentioned that Tony Schiavone, a seasoned commentator, commended him for handling Cargill’s departure gracefully. Khan also hinted at the possibility of Cargill returning to AEW in the future, should she wish to.
Interestingly, before her AEW exit, Cargill clarified that her decision wasn’t motivated by financial reasons. Given Khan’s revelation about the contract offer, it’s evident that other factors drove her move. With her husband, former MLB player Brandon Phillips, financial stability is fine for Cargill.
As the wrestling community awaits Cargill’s WWE debut, Ringside News has reported that WWE’s creative team is already brainstorming ideas for her introduction, suggesting that the company has big plans for her.
