Becky Lynch’s Gritty Defense Against Stratton Leaves Both Warriors Marked
In the high-octane main event of NXT No Mercy, Becky Lynch successfully defended her WWE NXT Women’s Championship against the formidable Tiffany Stratton. The Extreme Rules match was not for the faint of heart, with both competitors pulling out all the stops and using an array of weapons to gain the upper hand.
Lynch, however, didn’t leave the ring unmarked. A particularly intense moment saw her sustain a deep cut to her arm, which later demanded 11 stitches, as reported by Fightful Select. But true to her resilient nature, “The Man” took to Instagram to show off her battle wound and laud Stratton for her fierce challenge. Her post read, “NbeXT was rocking tonight. The Man brought [Tiffany Stratton] to the main event but she brought it to The Man. Respect. It wasn’t Tiffy time this time. But it will be again. The world tour continues. Stitches and all – last slide is my arm,” accompanied by a queasy emoji.
Not to be outdone, Stratton shared her own reflections on the match, highlighting the intensity of their bout. Her post conveyed her determination and hinted at future confrontations, “I’ve always loved the idea of not being what people expect me to be, but tonight was different. The man [Becky Lynch] brought it to me on another level unlike anyone ever has, but I brought it right back. I said what I said and I’m not going anywhere. See you all in the main event of WrestleMania sooner rather than later! Toodles.”
With this intense battle behind her, Lynch now sets her sights on Tegan Nox, whom she will face on Monday’s WWE Raw. This marks Nox’s much-anticipated return to the NXT title scene since her last challenge in July 2020 against Io Shirai, also known as IYO SKY.
