Former AEW Champion and TBS Titleholder Makes the Leap to WWE
Jade Cargill, a name that resonates with dominance in professional wrestling, especially after her impressive stint in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has officially inked a deal with WWE. WWE officials confirmed the signing of the former AEW TBS Champion, who graced AEW television just a fortnight ago. Cargill’s journey with WWE will commence at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, starting this Tuesday. The wrestling community is abuzz with speculation on whether she’ll debut directly on the main roster or hone her skills further in NXT.
Cargill’s impact has been profound despite having only two years of professional wrestling experience. A high-stakes mixed tag team marked her debut in AEW match in March 2021, where she partnered with NBA icon Shaquille O’Neal to face Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet. Interestingly, Rhodes, who played a pivotal role in mentoring Cargill at his Nightmare Factory in Georgia, transitioned to WWE last year and even headlined WrestleMania 39.
Cargill’s reign as the inaugural AEW TBS Champion spanned a remarkable 508 days, from January 5, 2022, to May 28, 2023. Beyond the squared circle, the 5-foot-10 former fitness model boasts a massive Instagram following, nearing the 1 million mark. Before her wrestling career, Cargill showcased her athletic prowess in Division I basketball at Jacksonville University. Off the mat, she and her partner and former Cincinnati Reds player Brandon Phillips co-owns the women’s professional fastpitch (WPF) team, the Texas Smoke.
