October Marks the Month as Roblox Joins the PlayStation Universe
The gaming landscape is set for a significant shift as Roblox, the renowned social and gaming platform, gears up to make its grand debut on PlayStation. The announcement came during the 2023 Roblox Developers Conference (RDC), revealing that both PS4 and PS5 enthusiasts can dive into the Roblox universe this October.
While Roblox has already marked its presence on multiple platforms such as PC, Mac, iOS, Android, and Xbox, the addition of PlayStation to this list fills a long-awaited gap. Speculations about Roblox’s PlayStation debut had been rife, especially after a 2022 job listing hinted at hiring a PlayStation engineer. Moreover, CEO David Baszucki’s comments during an August earnings call further fueled these speculations, suggesting the company’s interest in expanding to PlayStation and potentially the Nintendo Switch.
For those eager to explore the Roblox world on PlayStation, the good news is that the platform will offer access to its entire catalog of experiences. This means players can seamlessly transition their gaming adventures from other devices to their PlayStation consoles.
When probed about the possibility of a Nintendo Switch version, the company’s spokesperson, Roman Skuratovskiy, stated that while they aim for Roblox to be accessible on all devices globally, there are no immediate plans for a Switch release. However, Baszucki’s comments during the RDC hinted at more platforms joining the Roblox bandwagon in the future.
In other exciting news, the Meta Quest Roblox app is set to be more accessible by the end of September. Following its open beta release in July, the app witnessed over a million installs within just five days. Xbox users can also anticipate an enhanced Roblox experience, with improvements and regular updates on the horizon.
