The former WWE Champion addresses rumors about his future and contract situation.
Drew McIntyre, a marquee name in WWE, has been the subject of much speculation regarding his contract status. As one of the company’s top attractions, any movement concerning his contract is bound to create ripples in the wrestling community.
McIntyre’s triumphant return to WWE was witnessed at the 2023 Money in the Bank event at London’s O2 Arena. This comeback followed a hiatus post-WrestleMania, during which he recuperated from persistent injuries.
When quizzed about his contract with WWE, McIntyre remained elusive, choosing to focus on his present commitments rather than future plans. He remarked, “I don’t look to the future, I don’t look to the past, I look to the present. My job right now is ensuring we deliver the best show in Hyderabad. I don’t plan to be anywhere else.”
According to PW Insider, WWE is in no rush to pin down McIntyre with a new contract. Interestingly, due to McIntyre’s time off post-WrestleMania, additional months have been appended to his existing contract. The primary attention of the company has been on the Endeavor WWE acquisition, leaving little room for contract negotiations.
Sources suggest that McIntyre’s contract with WWE extends until approximately WrestleMania 40. This timeline gives both parties roughly seven months to implement a new agreement.
As WrestleMania approaches, observing how WWE positions McIntyre will be intriguing. A high-profile feud could be a strategic move to entice him to stay. Conversely, if signs point to McIntyre’s departure, it might reflect in his absence or diminished role at the grand event.
While AEW might have McIntyre on their radar, and Impact Wrestling could welcome the return of Drew Galloway, the Scottish Warrior’s narrative with WWE is far from over.
