The WWE Superstar provides insight into her injury and the journey ahead.
Dakota Kai, a prominent figure in the WWE women’s division, has been on the sidelines since May due to a torn ACL. Fans were both surprised and elated to see her make a brief appearance at WWE Summerslam, where she celebrated alongside Iyo Sky, who clinched the WWE Women’s Championship. However, this appearance led to speculation and questions about her injury status and when she would return to the ring.
Kai shed light on her current condition by addressing her fans directly on her Twitch stream. She emphasized that while she might be seen walking around, her ACL injury is still a significant hurdle in her path to full recovery. “I haven’t even learned how to start running and jumping again yet,” she mentioned, indicating the severity of her injury and the rehabilitation process. Kai revealed that she might begin running exercises this week, but the road to complete recovery is long.
The nature of an ACL injury, especially for athletes, is intricate. The recovery process is about healing and regaining strength, flexibility, and confidence in the injured leg. Kai pointed out the difference in recovery timelines for different professions, stating, “If I were a desk worker, I’d be back at work.” However, given the physical demands of professional wrestling, she will be cleared for in-ring action in January 2024.
The last time fans saw Kai in action was on the May 12 episode of WWE Smackdown, where she teamed up with Bayley. Unfortunately, they faced a defeat against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. While the wait for Kai’s return might be longer than anticipated, the wrestling community and her fans are undoubtedly rooting for her speedy recovery.
