His influence is evident, with many of today’s top performers citing him as a pivotal inspiration in their decision to pursue a career in the squared circle. Over a career spanning more than five decades, Funk graced the rings of WWE, WCW, NWA, ECW, All Japan Pro Wrestling, MLW, New Japan Pro Wrestling, Jim Crockett Promotions, TNA, and numerous top independent circuits.
His accolades are numerous, having held titles such as the ECW World Heavyweight Championship, ECW Television Championship, WCW United States Championship, WCW Hardcore Championship, and the WWF Tag Team Championships. Funk’s versatility, charisma, and unparalleled skills both on the mic and in the ring made him a beloved figure in the industry.
