From Hardcore Bouts to WWE: Gacy’s Journey in Wrestling
Joe Gacy, a prominent figure in the wrestling world, recently sat down with Ryan Satin on episode 124 of “Out of Character” to discuss his experiences in the hardcore wrestling scene, particularly in death matches. The conversation shed light on Gacy’s early career, where he frequently participated in these intense bouts, earning him a reputation in the wrestling community.
Gacy reminisced about his time in CZW (Combat Zone Wrestling), where he truly made a name for himself. The matches there were even more extreme than those in ECW, with Gacy admitting that a significant portion of his early career was dedicated to these types of matches. While some newer members at the WWE Performance Center might be unaware of his history, the veterans often jest about when Gacy will bring his hardcore style to WWE.
When asked if he misses the adrenaline and intensity of death matches, Gacy responded, “If there was a time in your career that you’ve done that, there is maybe a little bit inside of you that does miss it.” He clarified that while he doesn’t wish to revisit all the extreme moments of his past, he wouldn’t mind exploring some hardcore elements again if the opportunity presented itself.
The interview also touched upon the most painful experience Gacy endured during a death match. He recalled a match titled “Tangled Web,” which was akin to a cage match but with a brutal twist. The details of this match and Gacy’s experiences are expected to be further elaborated upon in the subsequent parts of the interview.
