WWE’s Upcoming Spectacle in India Will Not Be Televised Live
The WWE Superstar Spectacle, scheduled to take place at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, India, on September 8, 2023, is set to be a unique experience for fans. Contrary to expectations, the event will not be broadcast live on platforms such as the WWE Network or Peacock. According to sources cited by PWInsider, while there’s potential for the event to be aired locally in India, a confirmation has yet to be provided. Instead, the event is being approached as a live, in-person experience without televised distribution.
The roster for this spectacle boasts a star-studded lineup, including big names like Seth Rollins, Rhea Ripley, John Cena, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther, Jinder Mahal, Veer Sanga, Drew McIntyre, Becky Lynch, Natalya, Matt Riddle, Ludwig Kaiser, and Odyssey Jones.
This approach to the Indian market is noteworthy. WWE had previously produced a TV special for the Indian audience titled “The Superstar Spectacular” released on Republic Day in January 2021. Additionally, a SmackDown brand house show was initially planned for India in January 2022 but was postponed due to the merger of television broadcast companies Sony and Zee. Sony Sports Network remains WWE’s broadcast partner in India.
