AEW Talent and Management Unaware of Wheeler’s Incident Prior to News Break
The recent arrest of Cash Wheeler, following an alleged incident where he pointed a gun at an individual during traffic on Interstate 4 in Orlando, surprised many within All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Notable figures within the company, including top talent and management, were reportedly unaware of the incident until the news broke.
Nick Hausman of Haus of Wrestling reported that during his inquiries throughout the day, he needed help finding someone within AEW who had prior knowledge of the charge. In some instances, Hausman was the one informing them of the news. While it remains unconfirmed whether Tony Khan, Dax Harwood, or CM Punk were aware of the incident before Wheeler’s arraignment, it’s believed that Khan might not have had prior knowledge.
AEW, in an official statement, mentioned they are monitoring the situation closely and highlighted Wheeler’s cooperation with the authorities. Wheeler has pled not guilty to the charge. During his arraignment, his bail was set at $2,500, with conditions including no contact with the alleged victim and no possession of firearms.
Despite the ongoing situation, it’s anticipated that the match between the Young Bucks and FTR, which includes Wheeler, will proceed as planned at the AEW All In event on August 27. AEW World Champion MJF has also voiced his support for Wheeler, confirming the match’s continuation.
