The WWE Legend Reflects on His Career and Addresses Retirement Rumors
On August 18, WWE legend Edge is set to face Sheamus on WWE SmackDown. This match holds special significance as it marks Edge’s 25-year anniversary with WWE. In a recent interview with ET Canada, Edge addressed rumors surrounding his retirement and the future of his wrestling career.
Edge expressed genuine uncertainty about whether the upcoming match would be his last, stating, “Here’s what I can honestly say, and this isn’t the answer everyone wants: I truly don’t know.” He elaborated that the decision is challenging due to the physical toll wrestling takes on his body, especially as he approaches 50. Edge mentioned, “It’s the dream gig, but it’s getting really hard.”
Interestingly, Edge confirmed that the match against Sheamus is the last one on his current WWE contract. He had previously come out of retirement in 2020, making a triumphant return at the 2020 Royal Rumble and reportedly signing a three-year deal at that time.
