Hangman Page, Matt Hardy, and Others Face Unexpected Departures
AEW’s backstage dynamics have recently been stirred with several wrestlers being sent home from past AEW Collision shows. This revelation follows the situation involving Hangman Page, who was scheduled for a pre-taped interview for Dynamite but was later informed to conduct the segment away from the venue.
Dave Meltzer, a renowned wrestling journalist, shed light on similar incidents involving other AEW talents. Matt Hardy and Christopher Daniels, both seasoned wrestlers, faced similar situations where they were booked but later asked to leave. Ryan Nemeth, another talent, was also sent home under similar circumstances.
The common thread linking these incidents appears to be CM Punk. Punk, who recently returned to AEW, has had past issues with Hangman Page, which were evident in an off-air promo. The tension between Punk and Nemeth can be traced back to a tweet by Nemeth, which led to a backstage confrontation. Following the tweet, Nemeth deactivated his Twitter account.
Nick Hausman reported that the decisions to send Nemeth and Daniels home were directly related to conflicts with Punk. Daniels’ absence from Collision is believed to be due to his involvement in a post-AEW All Out altercation. Punk’s close friend, Ace Steel, was also involved in the incident, leading to speculations about Punk’s influence on these decisions.
While the exact reasons for these departures remain a topic of debate, it’s clear that backstage dynamics in AEW are undergoing significant shifts, with CM Punk at the epicenter.
