Despite Speculations, Orton’s Medical Clearance Still a Distant Prospect
WWE SummerSlam, set to take place on August 5th at Detroit’s Ford Field, is expected to be a grand spectacle. However, fans anticipating the return of Randy Orton might have to wait a bit longer. Ringside News has reported that Orton’s return to WWE is planned, but not until after SummerSlam. The exact timeframe remains unconfirmed, but it is expected to be within this year.
Despite Orton being spotted in Detroit, sources close to him have confirmed that he is far from being medically cleared to return to the ring. The Viper, as he is popularly known, has had a successful career in WWE and doesn’t necessarily need to wrestle again. However, his passion for the sport is undeniable, and plans for his return are underway.
Interestingly, Cowboy Bob Orton, WWE Hall of Famer and Randy Orton’s father, revealed in a conversation with Bill Apter that doctors have advised Randy not to return. He said, “He’s training, so we’ll see what happens. I don’t know if he feels like he’s ready to go back. I think he might, but again, he’s pretty well taken care of. I don’t think he needs to, and I think the doctors have told him not to. But Randy will do what Randy wants to do.”
While Orton’s return would certainly draw attention, it’s expected to happen sometime soon. However, if he decides to attend a WWE event, he would undoubtedly be welcomed backstage.
