Ripley vs. Rodriguez: A High-Stakes Showdown Looms at Detroit’s Ford Field
As SummerSlam 2023 gears up to take over Detroit’s Ford Field on August 5th, the event’s lineup continues to grow. While several matches have been hinted at or challenged, they only become official once WWE confirms them. Now, another electrifying match has been added to the card.
Rhea Ripley, the reigning Women’s World Champion, has dominated multiple WWE brands. Known as ‘The Nightmare’, Ripley shows no signs of slowing down, even as SummerSlam approaches.
According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ripley is confirmed to compete at the summer’s biggest wrestling event. The current storyline is still unfolding, but it’s clear that she will defend her title against Raquel Rodriguez. The report stated, “The only match not announced is Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Rodriguez for the World women’s title. We were told that as of last word, it was still on the show, although they are doing a knee injury angle with Rodriguez.”
With Raquel Rodriguez recently losing her tag team partner, Liv Morgan, due to an injury, it will be interesting to see how the narrative develops leading up to this anticipated match.
The SummerSlam card also features other high-profile matches, including Seth “Freakin” Rollins vs. Finn Bálor for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar, and Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair for the WWE Women’s Championship.
